Photography has always been my passion since a young age. Taking photos when I was young was a way for me to capture moments that I was not fully understanding and process them later. Both literally and figuratively!
I remember one of the first artistic photographs I took. I was learning about black and white photography and I was in the front yard searching for some ideas and then I saw the American flag hanging off the wrap around porch. I grabbed my camera and wrapped myself in that flag and shot my first “creative” photo. I entered into a county fair, and it won first prize. Not the most technically perfect photo, but I caught the “Shutter Bug”
Studying art and photography through college, I was enamored with Annie Leibovitz, Man Ray, Nan Golden and the art of the photographic image. I moved to New York City in 1997 and pursued many careers including acting, print modeling and a photo assistant. Photography has always been an important part of my life and I have been able to meet and experience some amazing people and places through my journey. I am excited for many more!

Philadelphia portrait photographer Brian James moved to Chestnut Hill Philadelphia in 2013 from New York City. He specializes in family portraits, newborn to children portraits, acting and corporate head shots, interior architectural photography.
Wedding and Event Photography are also available. Each “event” package is tailor made to the individual client and occasion.
